Hero Dog
00:47
Footage from a traffic camera overlooking a busy freeway in Santiago, Chile captured a dog performing a heroic act — pulling an injured friend from oncoming traffic.
The video shows an injured dog lying in the middle of a freeway after being hit by a car, while a rescue dog dodges traffic to run to its side. The rescue dog then drags the severely injured canine across lanes of traffic as cars swerve around it.
No motorists stopped to help either dog, but a highway crew arrives at the end of the video.
The translation of the announcer is as follows:
"These images seen from the surveillance cameras show a very common situation with our overpopulated highways. It is normal for us to see dogs run over. In the video, we can see this dog fighting for his life because he was run over by the vehicle.
"What is very touching is to see the very heroic actions of this other dog who is trying to pull him to the side of the highway. We are going to keep seeing things like this until we find a solution to the dogs living on the streets."

Desires of the heart can't be bought

My 13 year old son with cerebral palsy doesn't know what social class we are from, in fact, it doesn't matter. He has such a forgiving heart, he loves without discrimination, he holds no grudges. We should all learn a lesson in what this person demonstrates. And he does that without saying a word.

Story of near death experience
00:00
WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT ON THE PIPELINE
February 29, 1976 was like any other day. I was nineteen years old when the accident took place. Our crew was working seven days a week, sixteen hours a day. We arrived at the job site at about 6:00am then began setting up to lay pipe. The pipe we were working with was 60’ long pieces and 48” diameter. This was commonly used on the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline.
I remember looking at the thermometer that morning and it was 23 below zero. The crew of guys I was working with was the joining and beveling crew. We actually beveled the edges of the pipe, sandblasted and prepared them for joining. Apprentices on the job site had certain jobs. My job was sandblasting.
We waited in the bus until the hill was secured. When the foremen gave the word it was secure, everybody filed off the bus and prepared to start work. Every day the same procedure was used. The pipe was laid out going up a hill end to end. There were about four feet between each pipe. One end of the pipe had dunnage underneath it. It was elevated about two feet. We beveled the end of the pipe and sandblasted it and it was ready to join.
I remember working on the end of the pipe with my sandblasting hood on. There was a steady roar of the air compressor nearby. I felt the pipes start to move. I was between two sixty foot pieces of pipe with no place to go. I tried to spin to my left to get away from the moving pipe. I could feel the pipe hit me in the chest, crushing the life out of me. I never let go of the sandblasting hose. It remained in my right hand.
That’s when the darkness started to consume me, the lights went out, the curtains closed, and the darkness was horrifying.
Little did I know when I was busy sandblasting one of the operators walked up the hill to retrieve a D 9 cat that was sitting next to the pipe. If we would have known he was above us, we would have all scrambled for safety away from the pipes. Site unseen, he got in his dozer, warmed it up, and started to move away from the pipes, but somehow he managed to touch the pipe with his blade and this sent the pipe crashing down the hill end to end.
We were all standing around a group of men and there was a body lying on the ground. I asked one of the guys next to me who was it? Who got hurt? What happened? He wouldn’t look at me and he wouldn’t talk to me. I watched Tim trying to find a pulse; he was shaking his head no. He was mumbling, that he thought the man was dead, “I think he is dead” and shaking his head. He stood up slowly removed his jacket and placed it over the dead man’s body. The men started to move away from the body.
Down the hill I could see Jim Benson making his way up the hill. Somehow Jim knew what to do. He knelt next to the body pulled the jacket back and he placed his hand over the eyes of the body, and then he looked up into the sky and asked God to give him the strength to bring life back into the body. There was a huge flash and the next thing I knew I was the guy inside the body. That’s when the unbearable pain started.
The men started to work on me. I saw one of the men put his hand on my zipper starting to unzip my jacket and as he unzipped my jacket my intestines began to force their way out around my neck. I could actually see them. He stopped, realizing it was a mistake. He took his other hand carefully placing it between my intestines and zipper, slowly zipping my jacket back up. One of the laborers came over to me holding my right hand. He was in shock. He knelt down next to me and asked me what he should do with my hand. I told him to stick it back up my sleeve and he did. One of the men was looking down at me. I remember one saying he will never make it, he doesn’t have a fucking chance. They were all shaking their heads in a no direction. They could not stand to look at the site of the body. They took turns kneeling beside me shaking me and trying to keep me conscious. All I wanted to do was close my eyes and go and make the pain go away somehow. The men quickly realized by keeping me talking they could keep me conscious. Every time I would close my eyes they would shake me and say Kelley, come back, come back.
They immediately called for a medical evacuation. I could hear the men on the radio begging for help. Mayday mayday mayday…. They were pleading for help. Thirty minutes went by no helicopter, then one hour went by no helicopter, only after one hour and forty five minutes could we hear the helicopter approaching. It was the United States Army. It was not one of our helicopters, so we were all shocked. We had no idea that this was the first day the local helicopter went on strike against the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline. They loaded me up into the military helicopter. It took eighteen minutes flying time to get me to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. My parents somehow managed to make it to the hospital. They allowed me to visit with my parents for five minutes before sedating me. The doctors told my parents we don’t have a chance. This is one of the ones we can’t do. But they wanted to get started and try. During the next three days I was kept on the operating table, teams of doctors operated nonstop around the clock. I went through eighty six units of blood in the first three days before they finally stabilized me.
Success:
The true heroes were my fellow workers on the Trans Alaska pipeline, by keeping their heads and not allowing anybody to move me and for packing me in snow.
Success:
A success was the helicopter pilot from Fort Wainwright had heard the May Day from Alyeska go off within the first fifteen minutes and asked permission to fly, but permission was denied. Every fifteen minutes he would call his commanding officer and ask permission to fly, the answer was the same, permission denied. The Commanding officer would reply the local helicopter was in the air and he didn’t want a mid air collision.
At an hour and thirty minutes he become overwhelmed and broke command. The pilot took off from Fort Wainwright and headed for the may day call. I owe this man my life. He is one of the Heroes.
Success:
To the doctors at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital who would not give up when all the odds were against them. These doctors I owe my life to. They are the Heroes.

Tribute to a Navy Seal
02:00
A Navy SEAL sacrificed his life to save his comrades by throwing himself on top of a grenade Iraqi insurgents tossed into their sniper hideout, fellow members of the elite force said.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Monsoor had been near the only door to the rooftop structure Sept. 29 when the grenade hit him in the chest and bounced to the floor, said four SEALs who spoke to The Associated Press this week on condition of anonymity because their work requires their identities to remain secret.
"He never took his eye off the grenade, his only movement was down toward it," said a 28-year-old lieutenant who sustained shrapnel wounds to both legs that day. "He undoubtedly saved mine and the other SEALs' lives, and we owe him."
Monsoor, a 25-year-old gunner, was killed in the explosion in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was only the second SEAL to die in Iraq since the war began.
Two SEALs next to Monsoor were injured; another who was 10 to 15 feet from the blast was unhurt. The four had been working with Iraqi soldiers providing sniper security while U.S. and Iraqi forces conducted missions in the area.
In an interview at the SEALs' West Coast headquarters in Coronado, four members of the special force remembered "Mikey" as a loyal friend and a quiet, dedicated professional.
"He was just a fun-loving guy," said a 26-year-old petty officer 2nd class who went through the grueling 29-week SEAL training with Monsoor. "Always got something funny to say, always got a little mischievous look on his face."
